Scout
and Guide greetings you Sir / Madam,
Honourable
Prime Minister of India in his “Mann Ki Bath” programme stressed the importance
of Youth tp participate in “Nation Building “ activities. The Bharat Scouts and
Guides is revileged to associate the name of the Office of the Prime Minister
to recognize the units who make outstanding contribution in the field of
Community Development. The Prime Ministers Shield Competition is an ongoing
programme.
Applications
are invited from all the Units of Bangalore North District for the Prime Ministers
Shield Competition -2017-18. The last Date for submission of the application
for the year 2017-18 is 305h May 2017. The applications in the prescribed
format ( given below ) along with the DD
for Rs.10/- per unit should be sent to NHQ on 30.05.2017 for which the
application should reach the undersigned much earlier. The applications
received after 30.05.2017 will be considered for the next session.
You
are hereby requested to send the Applications of the Units Working under you in
the prescribed Format (Copy attached ) with Full details along with the Registration Fee of Rs. 10/- through DD or
Postal Order to NHQ per Unit to the District Secretary by 28th May
2017 so as enable the District to send
the same to the State HQ by 29th May 2017 Consolidation and
Scrutiny.
COMPETITION : PRIME
MINISTER’S SHIELD COMPETITION
PERIOD : The
Competition will cover the Period from 1st July every
year to 30th
June of the succeeding year
METHODOLOGY : The Competition will be held in Four
Subjects and is Open to all
the Scout
Troops / Guide Companies. Competitions will be held separately for Scout and Guide Wings of the Movement.
Scout
Troops and Guide Companies will participate in Two Subjects.
Subject I will
be Compulsory for all and they may select one more Subject I,e Subject No II or
III or IV
On
receipt of the applications by the Units, along with the Registration Fee of Rs.
10/-, the SHQ will then Register
the Unit and issue the Log Book and Guidelines to the
Units through the
District
ELIGIBILITY : The State will be Eligible to Compete
if it has 2 Competing Districts
A
Competing District is one which registers at least Two Units.
LOG BOOKS : To be Maintained by competing Units.
The Log Book should be preferably 15”x12” in size

PLEASE
NOTE that the Names of the Judges with Signature, Marks Given should be mentioned in the
Log Book. The State Secretary’s
Recommendation in the prescribed Log Book is a must.
Student’s
Name in English with Father’s Name in Capital Letters is a Must
. Covering letter with the name list of the Troop / Company . Log
Books
, Recommendation by the State
Secretary is also required.
JUDGING : Division / District recommends the
best Unit in Each Group To
the State. The State Selects and
recommends one Best Group among each group of
subjects to NHQ
A
State Can get 3 Shield for Scout Wing and 3 Shields for Guide Wing.
AWARD : *In Each State the Scout Troop, Guide Company, standing First gaining
70 % and above Marks will be awarded
the PRIME MINISTERS
SHIELD AND CERTIFICATE SIGNED BY THE PRIME MINISTER .
*The
Scouters / Guiders of the of the Shield Winning Units will also be
awarded a Certificate
*Each
member of the Shield Winning Unit would individually get a Certificate signed by
the Chief National Commissioner.
*
All participating Units which gain more than 50 % marks in the the
Group of Subjects will be awarded a Certificate of Merit signed by
the Prime Minister.
PROJECT AREA : The Area of Work for each Unit will
be selected by the respective Units and Approved by
the District Commissioner. It shall not be less
than 30 families. There shall be no duplication of area among ifferent
units
